We welcome the new CEO of CAP Australia

Nearly 8 years ago now, I got hold of John Kirkby’s book Nevertheless, and was so moved by it that I immediately volunteered at the CAP office in New Zealand. And, I haven’t looked back! I’ve watched it grow from a few people working in a small office, partnering with 4 churches to 38 employees, hundreds of CAP field workers and more than 200 church partners running CAP ministries up and down New Zealand.

As CEO in New Zealand for just over 3 years now, I have the privilege of seeing precious people released from debt, poverty and its causes – every single day. And now, I have this same privilege as CEO of CAP Australia! 

I realise we Kiwis and Aussies like to point out our differences, and often give each other a hard time as we compete against each other. But I’d like to share something we are united in and have in common: God is moving in both of our countries, breaking the chains of poverty, raising up His Church and drawing people to Himself!

How amazing is it that we get to be a part of His work?

Across Australia today, CAP is helping more families out of poverty than ever before.

CAP Debt Centres are helping parents put food on the table, provide for their children and find freedom from unmanageable debt.

CAP Money continues to offer practical budgeting help to set people up for a strong financial future.

And CAP Job Clubs are giving the unemployed new confidence and fresh hope as they find work.

And all of this is happening through the local church, where people are experiencing the transforming love of Jesus, many for the first time ever!

In Ephesians 3:20, Paul says: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!”

This year, as I work with the team here to continue to build a strong future for CAP Australia, it’s my prayer that even more Australians living in poverty or searching for work will get the help they need and experience God’s love in fresh new ways.

And, I’m believing that God will use each of us, along with His church across this beautiful nation, to do more than we ask or imagine – all for His glory!

I’m humbled to partner with you, as we bring freedom, hope and the good news of Jesus to families across Australia.
